Shannon Flockhart And Michael Morgan Named BIG EAST Athletes Of The Week

Flockhart won the women’s Friar Invitational and Morgan won on the men’s side.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was announced on Tuesday, Sept. 10 that Providence College graduate student Shannon Flockhart (Cambridge, England) and senior Michael Morgan (Sligo, Ireland) were named BIG EAST Cross Country Male and Female Athlete of the Week. Flockhart and Morgan earned the honor after winning their respective races at the Friar Invitational in Attleboro, Mass. on Friday, Sept. 6.
Flockhart won the women's race (4k) in a time of 14:13.49 and led the team to a first-place finish over three other teams. It marks the fifth-consecutive year that the Friar women's team has won the Friar Invitational.
Morgan won the men's race (6k) in a time of 18:11.48, leading the Friar men's team to a first-place finish overall.
The Friar men's and women's teams will return to action on Friday, September 27 at the Nuttycombe Invitational at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis., beginning at 1:20 p.m. ET.
