Layden won two titles at this year's championships and was named Most Outstanding Swimmer.
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - Will Layden captured the BIG EAST individual title in the men's 100-yard freestyle at the 2024 BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championship on March 2 in Indianapolis, Ind. He won the race in a time of 44.11. It marked his second title during this year's championship as he was crowned BIG EAST Champion in the 50-free with a time of 19.66. His time also achieved an NCAA B-Standard in addition to setting a school record in the event.
Layden was honored as the BIG EAST Championship's Most Outstanding Swimmer upon conclusion of the four-day conference championship.
Layden owns a program-best, four individual BIG EAST titles:Â
50-yard freestyle (2023) – 20.19Â
100-yard freestyle (2023) – 44.32Â
50-yard freestyle (2024) – 19.66Â
100-yard freestyle (2024) – 44.11Â
The men's 400-yard freestyle relay team, comprised of McGovern Brown, Alex Beauchene, Thomas Bowers and Will Layden placed fourth with a time of 2:59.98.Â
During prelims, Lauren Wagner set a school record in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:21.66. Â
Wagner also set a school record in the 100-yard breaststroke on Friday afternoon during preliminary action. Â
Annie Gathof set a school record in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:03.31.Â
