Women's Tennis Drops Pair Of Matches Against Wagner And Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - The Providence College women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches out on Long Island this weekend. The Friars fell to Wagner on Friday (Feb. 9) by a 5-2 score before getting defeated by Hofstra, 5-2, on Saturday (Feb. 10). The Friars fall to 0-4 in dual match play this season.

On Friday, Lira Loria and Elisa Davalos earned victories out the No. 5 and No. 6 singles slots, respectively. Wagner claimed the doubles point and earned wins in the first four singles matches to claim victory.

On Saturday, Hofstra swept all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Loria once again earned a win, this time from the No. 4 slot with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Abagail Higgins. Lauren Carson claimed the other Friars win on the day with a three-set win out of the No. 5 slot.

Providence returns to action on Friday (Feb. 16) at Rhode Island before hosting Stonehill on Saturday (Feb. 17).
