PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College freshman forward
John Mustard (Oradell, N.J.) was named Hockey East Player of the Week on Monday, December 9. Mustard earns his second Hockey East recognition in as many weeks after being named Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week on December 2.
Mustard extended his point streak to five games (3-5-8) over the weekend, recording four points overall on one goal and three assists to lead the Friars to a two-game sweep over then No. 8 Colorado College. On Friday, he recorded the primary assist on the game-winning goal in the 4-3 win and followed up with a one-goal, two-assist performance on Saturday in a decisive 5-1 win over the Tigers. He also finished the weekend with a league-best +5 rating. In 17 games this season, Mustard has totaled five goals and seven assists for 12 points and a +7 rating.
The Friars are idle until December 28 when they return to action at the Ledyard Classic hosted by Dartmouth College, opening up against Northeastern at 4 p.m. at Thompson Arena.
