Providence College Athletics donated over 400 gifts to 31 local families.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.– Providence College Athletics, led by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) teamed up with the DaVinci Center for the eighth straight year, a non-profit organization located in Providence, R.I. to provide Christmas gifts to local families.

The Adopt a Family Project, organized by the DaVinci Center, aims to enhance the quality of life for the residents in the North End of Providence. The families work with the center throughout the year in a variety of ways and this specific program matches donors with children in need to provide gifts of clothing and toys for Christmas.

"We often say, 'You Are Never Alone in Friartown,' and this sentiment reaches far beyond our campus, embracing the greater Providence community," Senior Associate Athletic Director Jennifer Cunningham said. "This annual initiative holds immense significance for our student-athletes, coaches, and staff. There is no greater joy for us than bringing a smile to a family while brightening their home during the holiday season."

All 19 varsity athletic teams at Providence College along with coaches and staff from the Athletic Department were assigned a group of children to sponsor. This year, over 400 gifts were delivered to the center for 81 children from 31 local families.

A family shared their experience, stating: "I've been doing everything I can to make ends meet for my three kids, but it has been difficult lately. The holidays felt overwhelming, like one more thing I couldn't handle. When I discovered that the DaVinci Center, supported by the Providence College student-athletes, donated toys through the Adopt a Family effort, I saw hope. Seeing how carefully chosen and wrapped gifts were meant so much to me. It's not just about the presents but what they represent for my kids. They'll experience the magic of the holidays, and I'll have the joy of watching them smile. That means everything to me. I'm so grateful."
