ORONO, MAINE – The Providence College swimming & diving teams competed against Maine in dual meet action on Saturday, Jan. 27 in Orono, Maine. The men's team claimed a 164-124 team victory, while the women's team was defeated 166-133.
Both programs had impressive performances. On the men's side, the Friars swept both relay events and took first place in eight individual events.
Alex Beauchene was a multi-event winner as the top-finisher in the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.49) and 100-yard freestyle (47.04). He also swam the second leg of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay.
On the women's side, the Friars captured seven individual races.
Elizabeth Burke won multiple distance events for Providence, pacing the field in the 1,000-yard free (10:54.87) and the 500-yard free (5:16.76).
