Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season At The ITHF Invitational

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Providence College women's tennis team opened it's fall season at the three-day International Tennis Hall of Fame Invitational from Sept. 15-17. The Friars competed in matches against Georgetown, Rhode Island and Dartmouth.

Day 1:
 
Georgetown (Coburn / Willy) defeated Providence (Abreu / Beltran) 6-0, 6-1
Georgetown (Gilbert / Kennedy) defeated Providence (Carson / Barrera) 6-0, 1-0 retired (injury)
URI (Shanker / Rothchild) defeated Providence (Melendez / El Khalif) 6-2, 3-6, 12-10
 
Day 2: (shortened matches because of rain)
 
URI (Rajan / Fernando) defeated Providence (Abreu / Beltran) 8-1 
Dartmouth (Cruz / Japalli) defeated Providence (Melendez / El Khalif) 8-4
URI (Cvackova / Herrman) defeated Providence (Carson / Barrera) 8-0
 
Day 3:
 
Dartmouth (Cruz / Jupalli) defeated Providence (Carson / Barrera) 6-2, 6-1
URI (Cvackova / Herrman) defeated Providence (Abreu / Beltran) 6-3, 6-1
URI (Rajan / Fernando) defeated Providence (Melendez / El Khalif) 6-2, 6-2

Providence will host the PC Singles Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Providence College Tennis Courts.
