Friar student-athletes maintain a 97-percent Graduation Success Rate for the fourth-consecutive reporting year.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The NCAA announced on Wednesday (Dec. 6) the overall Division I student-athlete Graduation Success Rate improved to 91-percent, which is the highest rate ever recorded. Providence College maintained its 97-percent Graduation Success Rate for the fourth-consecutive season.
The years 2020-2023 refer to the reporting years of the cohorts that entered college in 2013-2016. In the 2023 reporting year, the 2016-17 entering cohort was added. The GSR formula removes from the rate student-athletes who leave school while academically eligible and includes student-athletes who transfer to a school after initially enrolling elsewhere. This calculation provides a more accurate appraisal of student-athlete success.
Eleven Providence College programs posted a perfect 100-percent GSR for the 2013-16 cohort - women's basketball, field hockey, women's ice hockey, men's and women's cross country/track, men's and women's soccer, softball, women's swimming and diving, women's tennis and women's volleyball. The Friars' GSR of 97 was fourth among all BIG EAST institutions for the 2013-16 cohort.
