Swimming & Diving Teams Play Big Role In Successful Swim Across America Event

The program and its alumni combined to raise over $56,000 to support cancer research at Women and Infants Hospital.
The Providence College Swimming and Diving teams, joined by their Alumni, combined to raise over $56,000.00 at this year's Swim Across America Event.
The 13th annual open water swim was held at Roger Wheeler State Beach in Narragansett, R.I. on Saturday. The Friars represented approximately 100 of the 600+ swimmers at the event. The current team members were joined by 40 alums and classmates dating as far back as the 80's.

Swim Across America - Rhode Island raises money for cutting-edge cancer research, locally in support of the Oncology Center at Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, R.I.Â
Each year our Rhode Island charity swim attracts over 600 swimmers and volunteers who support our cause, including Olympians such as this year's event emcee Elizabeth Beisel. This year, the event totaled nearly $250,000. Since the event was established in 2010, Swim Across America - Rhode Island has raised nearly $2-million to fund cancer research overall.
