ADVANTEDGE FRIAR MARKETPLACE
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College, in conjunction with Opendorse, has launched the AdvantEdge Friar Marketplace, the official Name, Image and Likeness marketplace for all Friar student-athletes. Now, Providence College fans, brands, sponsors and donors can browse, pitch, book and pay any Friar student-athlete for NIL activities in one compliant platform, built specifically for the athletes' needs.
"We are excited to unveil the AdvantEdge Friar Marketplace which provides our student-athletes with the highest level of support for opportunities with their Name, Image and Likeness," Providence College Athletic Director Steve Napolillo said. "Friartown is a special place and we believe this marketplace will allow our passionate fans and donors, as well as the business community a direct path to support our student-athletes. As the NIL space continues to evolve, Providence College will strive to be at the forefront."
The Opendorse-powered marketplace will maximize NIL support for student-athletes. The marketplace promises to mobilize the Providence College fan base and local organizations to best-support its student-athletes. The Opendorse-powered marketplace is built on a decade of athlete marketing technology and experience. Opendorse has facilitated hundreds of thousands of NIL deals and endorsements with athletes at every level of sports. The marketplace is used by over 75,000 athletes to manage deals from pitch to payment, and even tax prep, every day. The NIL company launched its initial school-specific NIL marketplaces with six partners throughout the spring of 2022. Student-athletes at these institutions experienced a 193% increase in NIL opportunities in the first month after the marketplace's launch.
"Providence has been a leader from day-one in the NIL era," said Opendorse CEO Blake Lawrence. "By launching this marketplace, every Friar student-athlete will be in position to maximize their opportunity with NIL by more easily connecting with the Providence fanbase and community."
Every Friar athlete has received an Opendorse profile, which they can customize and promote to fans on their personal social media channels. Athletes review opportunities, receive deals, accept compensation, and disclose NIL activities to their institution, all within the Opendorse app.
"The launch of the AdvantEdge Friar Marketplace is another exciting step in our efforts to provide the highest level of support to our student-athletes to maximize their NIL opportunities," Providence College Associate AD for Compliance Joe Nicastro said. "We are proud to continue to partner and expand our relationship with Opendorse, the industry leader in NIL education, compliance and marketplace, to provide our student-athletes the best resources possible to elevate themselves in the NIL space."
The NIL marketplace signifies the continued relationship between the College and Opendorse after the launch of the AdvantEdge NIL platform in August of 2021. Providence College will continue to provide its student-athletes and staff with Opendorse's best-in-class compliance, content and education tools:
