COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey announced on Wednesday (March 23) that the entire 2022 U.S. National Junior Team staff will return when the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship is replayed from Aug. 8-19, 2022 in Edmonton, Alberta. Providence College Head Coach Nate Leaman and Director of Hockey Operations Theresa Feaster will serve as head coach and video coach, respectively.

The event, originally scheduled for Dec. 26, 2021 – Jan. 5, 2022, was cut short due to COVID-19. Teams will restart the tournament and players originally eligible for the 2022 December tournament will remain eligible for the August tournament.

Leaman has been a part of three previous U.S. National Junior Team coaching staffs, including his first stint as head coach in 2021, winning Team USA's fifth gold medal in tournament history. He also served as an assistant coach for the bronze medal-winning 2007 squad that competed in Leksand and Mora, Sweden. Additionally, he served as an assistant coach for the 2009 team that played in Ottawa, Ontario and on the 2021 U.S. Men's National Team in Riga, Lativa.

The 2021-22 campaign was Leaman's 11th as head coach at Providence, where he has led the Friars to NCAA tournament berths in six of the past nine seasons, including the school's first-ever NCAA title in 2015 and fifth Frozen Four appearance in 2019. During his tenure, Leaman has coached 31 NHL draft picks in addition to six undrafted players currently under NHL contracts. He has also coached five players selected to play for the U.S. National Junior Team, including Jon Gillies (2013, 2014), Erik Foley (2017), Parker Ford (2020), Brett Berard (2021) and Patrick Moynihan (2021). Gillies, Foley, Berard and Moynihan were all part of gold medal-winning teams.

Feaster is making her second appearance as a member of the U.S. National Junior Team coaching staff and was the first female to ever serve on the coaching staff of a U.S. National Junior Team. The 2021-22 season was her 10th at Providence and sixth season as the director of men's ice hockey operations. She was a graduate assistant for two years prior to being promoted in 2016, becoming at the time one of two women working as full-time hockey staff members for Division I men's hockey teams.
