EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The Providence College began competition at the 2022 BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championship at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, N.Y. on Wednesday, Feb. 23.
The men's team set three school records to highlight the first day of competition.
McGovern Brown,
Kevin Hood,
Ryan Sharp and Will Layden took fifth place in the 200-yard medley relay with a school-record time of 1:29.64.
Justin Viotto,
Aidan Hughes,
Nicholas Garrepy and
Alex Beauchene set another school record for the men's program with a time of 6:44.84 (fifth place) in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Viotto led off the relay with a school-record time of 1:38.83 in the opening 200 yards.
On the women's side, the 200-yard medley relay comprised of
Sally Alrutz,
Kathryn Presley,
Katherine Winklosky and
Taylor Loud finished seventh with a time of 1:46.02.
Grace Erickson,
Abigail Tchoukaleff,
Jennifer Bankes and
Madeline O'Connor teamed up to finish seventh in the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:43.13).
