PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's swimming & diving program competed against Bryant on Friday, Nov. 4. The men's meet took place at Taylor Natatorium in Providence, R.I. Bryant claimed victory in the men's meet by a slim margin of 151-147.
The men's team set two school records during Friday's meet. Ryan Sharp broke his own record in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 56.92. He set the previous record last weekend against Iona (57.49), taking down Mike Loftis' record from 2010 (57.78).
The Friars' 400-meter freestyle relay team also set a school record for a second-straight weekend as Sharp, Alex Beauchene,
McGovern Brown and
Will Layden completed the event in a time of 3:30.14.
Layden and
Kevin Hood also won multiple individual events during the dual meet competition. Layden took first in the 50-meter free (23.92) and 100-meter free (53.09). Hood topped the field in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:04.68) and the 200-meter breaststroke (2:26.45).
The Friars' 200-meter medley relay team comprised of Brown, Hood, Sharp, Layden also claimed victory (1:45.09).
The women's team also competed against Bryant on Friday night, in a meet that took place in Smithfield, R.I. Results were not available at the time this release was posted.
The Friars return to action on Saturday, Nov. 5 against Boston University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. in Boston, Mass.
