PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College Athletic Department has tabbed Opendorse to assist Providence College student-athletes with education, protection and the monetization of their Name, Image and Likeness (NIL). This platform is uniquely branded for Providence College and is called AdvantEdge.
"Opendorse will provide our student-athletes with the key resources to understand, build and promote their personal brands," Providence College Athletic Director Bob Driscoll said. "We are thrilled to partner with Opendorse as we navigate a brand-new landscape in college athletics."
The Opendorse NIL Bundle – Opendorse Ready™, Monitor™, and Social™ – will support AdvantEdge's mission to prepare student-athletes for success in the coming era of college sports with the market's best resources.
"The NIL era brings an enormous opportunity for college athletes across the country," said Opendorse CEO Blake Lawrence. "I'm thrilled to help Providence make the most of this moment by providing best-in-class resources to every student-athlete on campus. This partnership will empower Providence athletes to understand, build, protect, and ultimately, monetize their name, image, and likeness in the new era of college sports."
The AdvantEdge platform will be administered through the Friar Edge student development program. The Friar Edge's mission is to inspire student-athletes to grow as learners, leaders and citizens. This vision is built on six fundamental pillars – personal enhancement, academics, DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion), community, leadership and career.
"In this ever-evolving era of college athletics, our partnership with Opendorse will play a significant role in our student-athlete's lives as they navigate Name, Image and Likeness," women's basketball Head Coach Jim Crowley said. "Our players will be positioned well in this new environment with the education and resources they need to build their brand and take advantage of the opportunities that are ahead of them."
Opendorse Ready™ is the elite NIL education solution in college athletics. The program provides student-athletes with industry-proven assessment, education, and performance tools to understand, build, and protect their personal brands. Having facilitated endorsement opportunities with thousands of professional athletes, Opendorse has built Ready on a foundation of tangible insights and data from a decade of athlete marketing experience.
"I am excited that Providence College has selected Opendorse to assist our student-athletes with the complexities of the new NIL legislation," Providence College men's basketball Head Coach Ed Cooley stated. "Opendorse is one of the leaders in the industry. Our players need this program as we enter a new era of compensation for name, image and likeness."
With Ready, Providence will provide student-athletes with custom brand value assessments, live consultation sessions with industry leaders, and on-demand access to the NIL Masterclass, an education series featuring experts on brand building, monetization, and financial literacy from leading brands including Instagram, Twitter, the Players' Tribune, and Overtime.
"The Opendorse platform provides the necessary tools to assist our student-athletes through the uncharted landscape of NIL," men's hockey Head Coach Nate Leaman said. "We are thrilled to partner with Opendorse and begin a new era for our student-athletes to build their brand and maximize their opportunities here at Providence College."
Opendorse Monitor™ is the compliance product athletes use to protect their brand. With Monitor, athletes can seamlessly disclose activities to simplify compliance and safeguard eligibility. Institutions are able to evaluate transactions and protect their interests.
A new feature within Monitor is the NIL Policy Kit. The Kit is built to allow college athletics programs to easily customize and generate a clear NIL policy to support athletes, staff, and stakeholders. It is likely that a defined policy will be mandated or highly necessary as changes to NIL legislation take hold.
Opendorse Social™ is the marketing product athletes use to build their brands. Thousands of professional and college sports organizations use Social to maximize their media – equipping athletes with access to video and photo content through drag-and-drop media libraries, one-tap publishing technology, and real-time analytics.
