During the 2020-21 season, Howe was part of the Friars’ staff that earned BIG EAST Men’s Swimming and Diving Coaching Staff of the Year.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College Head Coach John O'Neill announced today [Aug. 30] that Margaret Howe has been promoted to Associate Head Coach. Howe has been an assistant coach of men's and women's swimming and diving program for the past five seasons. She also has served as the team's recruiting coordinator for the last three seasons, playing an integral role in attracting some of the most accomplished athletes in the program's history.

The 2020-21 season saw the program's staff recognized as the BIG EAST Men's Swimming and Diving Coaching Staff of the Year for their outstanding performance at the Conference Championships in Geneva, Ohio in April.

"Coach Howe is fully invested in our school, program and its athletes," O'Neill said. "This promotion recognizes the vital role she has played in the growth of our men's and women's program during her time here.  We could not ask for a harder worker or better role model for the Friars who call the Taylor Natatorium their home!"

Coach Howe will continue her duties as recruiting coordinator and continue to assist Coach O'Neill with all aspects of the program.  The Friars will open the 2021-22 season at Boston College in October.
