Geneva, Ohio – The Providence College Friars competed in the second day of the 2021 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships. On day two of the championships the men are in fourth place and the women are in fifth place.Â
Junior
Justin Viotto placed third in the finals of the 500-yard freestyle, reaching the wall in 4:28.54. Viotto outpaced Jed Michnowicz's 25-year-old record in the 500-yard freestyle. Freshman Will Layden finished in a tie for fifth place in the 50-yard finals. His program-record swim, 20.81, improves the previous standard set by
Aidan Hughes in the 2020 BIG EAST Championships.
