PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Providence College freshman middle blocker
Maryanne Boyle (Blacklick, Ohio) was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday, March 31.
Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) and
Emma Nelson (West Chester, Pa.) were also recognized, and named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.

Boyle helped the Friars to back-to-back wins over Villanova in the season's final weekend. In Saturday's win over Villanova, Boyle tallied nine kills and hit .350, while also adding five block assists. On Friday, she contributed two kills and four block assists. Both matches came down to five sets.

Barber tallied 39 assists, one block assist with four kills and 15 digs on Friday. She added 47 assists on Saturday's match, with 14 digs and seven kills, to help secure the team's sweep over Villanova.Â

Nelson tallied 18 kills, three block assists, and three digs for 19.5 points in Friday's match. On Saturday, Nelson tallied 14 kills with a .212 hitting percentage.
