The killing spree that fatally took the lives of eight individuals, six Asian-American women and two other individuals, is a tragic and unfortunate reminder of the rise of Asian hate running rampant in our country.

Providence College Athletics firmly rejects hatred, xenophobia, bigotry, racism, and violence towards the Asian community. The actions that occurred last Tuesday speak to the dire need to address the roots of Asian hate and the relationship of that hate to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is our responsibility in Friartown to consistently build and work toward a community that values and supports all individuals.

To our Asian-American brothers and sisters: we see you, we hear you, and we will continue to fight alongside you. In order to end Asian hate, we must all do our part.
