Friars were scheduled to play on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The BIG EAST Conference announced today (Dec. 21) that due to COVID related issues in the Georgetown men's basketball program, the Providence versus Georgetown game scheduled for Wednesday, December 22 at 6:30 p.m. in Providence at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on FS1 has been cancelled.  The Friars are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, December 29 versus Seton Hall at 7:00 p.m. on FS1.

Per current BIG EAST policy, Georgetown has forfeited the game and a loss will be assigned in the conference standings. Providence will be assigned a win.

BIG EAST policy states that if a conference game cannot be played on its originally scheduled date due to an insufficient number of available players (including as a result of COVID), that team shall be deemed to have forfeited with a loss assigned to that team. A win will be assigned to its opponent. The win and loss will be applied to the league standings.

Season ticket holders will receive a credit on their account towards the 2022-23 season based on a 19-game schedule, assuming the game is not played.

Mini Plan and Single Game purchasers will have the option to exchange their Georgetown tickets for tickets to either #15 Seton Hall on December 29 @ 7:00 pm or #18 Xavier on February 23 @ 7:00 pm.
