PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College's
Brett Berard (East Greenwich, R.I.) was announced as Hockey East Player of the Month for November on Thursday (Dec. 2). It was the second time a Friar has earned monthly honors this season with freshman
Guillaume Richard (Cap-Sante, Que.) earning Defender of the Month recognition for October.
Berard, who was named Hockey East Player of the Week on Monday after his six-point weekend against Dartmouth and Brown, currently leads all Hockey East players in scoring in his sophomore season at Providence with 10 goals and 11 assists in 17 games played. During the month of November, Berard registered 10 points on three goals and seven assists with nine points coming over the final five games of the month.
Earlier this week, the sophomore was named to the 2022 U.S. National Junior Team Preliminary Roster that will audition for a spot on the final 25-player roster that will represent the United States in the
2022 IIHF World Junior Championship set for Edmonton and Red Deer, Alberta, from Dec. 26, 2021 – Jan. 5, 2022. Berard is one of six returning members from last year's gold medal-winning U.S. National Junior Team.
