PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College's
Riley Duran (Woburn, Mass.) was named Hockey East Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday, December 13. Duran shares the honors with UMass Lowell's Matt Crasa.
Duran played a key role in the Friars' two-game sweep over Princeton, notching two goals and two assists with a +4 rating over the weekend. The freshman tallied a career-high three points in Friday's 7-0 win and followed that up with a key goal to start a third period rally in Providence's 3-2 win over the Tigers on Saturday.
The 2020 draft choice of the Boston Bruins (6
th round, 182
nd overall) has posted five goals and six assists this season, ranking fourth among all Hockey East rookies in points with 11 and second in plus-minus rating (+7).
Duran and the Friars return to action at the Kwik Trip Holiday Faceoff in Milwaukee, Wis., from Dec. 28-29. Providence will battle Bowling Green before facing off against either Wisconsin or Yale.
