AMESBURY, Mass. – Providence College freshman defenseman Guillaume Richard (Cap-Sante, Que.) was announced as Hockey East's Defender of the Month for October on Wednesday (Nov. 3).
Â
The 2021 draft choice of the Columbus Blue Jackets (4th round, 101st overall) recorded a goal and four assists, with a league-best +10 rating during the month of October. Richard is part of a Friars defense that has surrendered only 19 goals through nine games played this season (2.11 GAA).
Â
Richard and the No. 7/8 Friars will begin a key Hockey East home-and-home series this weekend against No. 12 UMass on Friday night in Amherst, followed by a Saturday night tilt at Schneider Arena. Both games can be seen live on NESN (Friday) and on NESN+ (Saturday).
