No. 17 Friars Erupt For Four Goals In The Third Period To Down UNH, 5-1

DURHAM, N.H. – The No. 17 Providence College men's hockey team scored five unanswered goals, including four in the third period en route to a 5-1 victory over New Hampshire on Friday night at the Whittemore Center.

NOTES
-Both teams skated through the first 20 minutes scoreless. Providence led in shots 12-8.
-Jackson Pierson scored on the rebound 6:35 into the second period, putting the Wildcats ahead 1-0.
-Jamie Engelbert responded less than four minutes later and equalized the game at 1-1. Assisted by Luke Johnson and Parker Ford off a re-direct, the goal served as Engelbert's first of the season.
-The teams entered the third period tied 1-1, with Providence leading in shots 20-16.
-Greg Printz kicked off an action packed third with a goal 3:04 into the final period. Off a turnover, the senior drove to the net and Robinson to the far post for his fourth goal of the season.
-Nick Poisson followed up with another goal 52 seconds later. Patrick Moynihan chipped a pass to a streaking Poisson down the left wing and he wired a shot to the top right corner for his second goal of the year.
-Senior defenseman Davis Bunz scored his first career goal in his 96th game to give Providence a 4-1 lead, capping a three-goal run in 3:18.
-Moynihan cashed in on the power play with 1:44 left in the game for his third goal of the season to cap the scoring.
-Jaxson Stauber recorded 26 saves on the night, allowed only one goal out of New Hampshire's 27 shots.
-Michael Callahan and Tyce Thompson led the team in shots at five each.
-Parker Ford posted his second three-assist game of the season.
-Stauber has surrendered just two goals over his last three games and improves his goals-against average to 1.74 and save percentage to .929 in 13 games.
