Men's and Women's Hockey Programs Combine for 34 Hockey East All-Academic Team Selections

A league record 358 student-athletes were recognized.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's and women's hockey programs combined for a total of 34 Hockey East All-Academic Team honorees as announced by the Hockey East Association on Tuesday (June 30). A record total of 358 student-athletes earned All-Academic Team recognition after achieving at least a 3.0 grade-point average in each of the academic periods of the 2019-20 season.
 
A program record 18 men's hockey student-athletes were recognized as seniors Vimal Sukumaran (Montreal, Que.) and Spenser Young (Brentwood, N.H.) were named Distinguished Scholars after achieving at least a 3.0 grade-point average in each semester of four varsity seasons.
 
Other men's student-athletes named to the Hockey East All-Academic team were: Michael Callahan (Franklin, Mass.), Max Crozier (Calgary, Alta.), Garrett Devine (Windsor, Colo.), Parker Ford (Wakefield, R.I.), Luke Johnson (Edina, Minn.), Jake Kucharski (Erie, Pa.), Michael Lackey (Washington, D.C.), John McDermott (Darien, Conn.), Cam McDonald (Eagle River, Alaska), Gabe Mollot-Hill (Ottawa, Ont.), Patrick Moynihan (Millis, Mass.), Albin Nilsson (Ljungby, Sweden), Jason O'Neill (Odenton, Md.), Luke Perunovich (Edina, Minn.), Greg Printz (Fairfax, Va.) and Jimmy Scannell (Medfield, Mass.).
 
The women's hockey program boasted 16 All-Academic Team selections and three Top Scholar-Athletes, compiling a perfect 4.0 GPA for the season – Chloe Gonsalves (Toronto, Ont.), Clare Minnerath (Sartell, Minn.) and Giana Savastano (Mapleville, R.I.).
 
Other women's All-Academic Team honorees were: Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany), Sonja Bjornson (Philadelphia, Pa.), Jamie Comeau (Wakefield, R.I.), Whitney Dove (Port Moody, B.C.), Sara Hjarlmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden), Ariane Julien (Saint Hyacinthe, Que.), Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.), Kathleen McHugh (Billerica, Mass.), Maureen Murphy (Buffalo, N.Y.), Caroline Peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.), Annelise Rice (Excelsior, Minn.), Meaghan Rickard (Coventry, R.I.) and Neve Van Pelt (Mitchell, Ont.).
