Five teams posted perfect 1,000 multi-year APR rates.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The NCAA released the 2018-19 Academic Progress Rate report on Tuesday (May 19). Five Providence College teams posted perfect multi-year rates of 1,000. The men's cross country team, women's basketball team, women's soccer team, women's swimming and diving team and women's tennis team each recorded a perfect APR.

Women's swimming and diving has held an APR of 1,000 for seven consecutive years and women's tennis has held a perfect score for six consecutive years. The women's basketball team earned a perfect multi-year APR in back-to-back seasons.

Other Providence College teams' APR scores were men's soccer (995), field hockey (992), softball (992), men's track (991), men's swimming and diving (989), women's track (989), women's volleyball (989), women's ice hockey (986), men's lacrosse (985), men's basketball (984), women's cross country (983) and men's ice hockey (974).

Every Division I sports team calculates its APR each academic year with student-athletes earning one point for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating every academic term. Teams scoring below certain thresholds can face sanctions, such as scholarship losses and restrictions on playing season and practice time. In order to compete in the 2020-21 postseason, teams must achieve a 930 four-year APR.

The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in each sport. The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years.
