PROVIDENCE, R.I. -Â Providence College Head CoachÂ
John O'Neill announced today that
Lauren Zawacki (Marshfield, Ma.) and Abigail Bigham (Chatham, N.J.) have been elected co-captains of the women's swimming and diving program, while
Andrew Ferrell (Atlanta, Ga.) and
Parker Cramer (San Ramon, Calif.) will serve as captains for the men's program for the upcoming 2020-2021 season.

Zawacki, a senior, is a sprint freestyle specialist for the Friars who was the recipient of the Luciani Award at the 2020 Providence College Swimming and Diving Awards Ceremony. She has been a consistent force in dual meets and championship competition since she arrived at Providence, winning the O'Neill Family Award in 2018. At the 2020 BIG EAST Championship she lowered the 50 freestyle record (which she had set a year ago at the 2019 BIG EAST Championship meet) as well as contributed legs to the record-setting 200 medley, 200 freestyle, 400 medley and 400 freestyle Relays. Zawacki is pursuing a degree in Finance.

Bigham, a senior, has competed for the Friars in the distance freestyle and individual medley events since her arrival at Providence. A stalwart for the Friars in the 1000 and 500 freestyle events in dual meet competition, she qualified and competed in the 500 freestyle, 1650 freestyle and 400 individual medley at the 2020 BIG EAST Championships, scoring for the Friars in the mile. Prior to Providence, Bigham was a two-sport athlete at Chatham High School. She is pursuing a degree in Marketing.

Ferrell, a senior, has been one of the Friars' more versatile swimmers in recent years, specializing in butterfly, individual medley and middle-distance freestyle events. He received the Larkin Award for the second consecutive year at the 2020 PCSD Awards Ceremony after scoring and posting all lifetime bests in his events at the BIG EAST Championship for the second year in a row. Ferrell lowered his school records in the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley as well as contributed legs on the record-setting 800 freestyle, 200 medley, 400 medley and 400 freestyle Relays at 2020 BIG EAST Championships. He is pursuing an Accounting major.

Cramer, a senior, is a breaststroke and individual medley specialist. Another versatile Friar that the men's team has come to rely on, his dual meet competition slate has occasionally included distance freestyle and butterfly, on top of his primary events. At the 2020 BIG EAST Conference meet, Cramer qualified for both breaststrokes as well as the 200 individual medley, scoring in the 100 breaststroke for the Friars. He is an active member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and is pursuing a Business Economics degree.
