ORLANDO, Fla. - The Providence College women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Creighton in the BIG EAST opening match held on Wednesday (March 11) at the USTA Center - Lake Nona, Orlando, Fla.Â
In doubles on court three,
Brenna Magliochetti and
Katie Mulvey went on to blank their opponents in doubles, 6-0, but at the same rate Creighton's number two doubles blanked Dailey and Melendez. The doubles point was sealed for Creighton after a win on court one against
Julia Migliorini and
Haley Gurski.. In singles, the lone win for Providence was picked up on court six by freshman
Vannelie Melendez. She played a fantastic match to earn her first BIG EAST individual win, having to come back from one set down and winning a third-set tiebreaker, 10-5.
Providence is back in action in on Thursday, March 12 against Georgetown. The match will take place at the USTA Center at 11:45 a.m.
