PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College's
Uula Ruikka (Oulu, Finland) and
Jaxson Stauber (Plymouth, Minn.) earned weekly Hockey East recognition as announced by the league on Monday (Dec. 21).
Ruikka, a freshman defenseman, was named Hockey East Rookie of the week after registering his first NCAA goal and assist in Providence's 1-0-1 weekend against No. 12 Northeastern.
Stauber, a sophomore goaltender, was named Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week after posting a 1.45 GAA, .948 save percentage and his first career NCAA shutout over two games against the Huskies. In three starts, Stauber has posted a 1.63 GAA and .931 save percentage, stopping 67-of-72 shots he's faced.
