PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Hockey East announced Monday (Nov. 30) that Providence College women's hockey team members
Lauren DeBlois (Bloomington, Minn.) and
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) have been named the Hockey East Player of the Week and Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.

DeBlois led the team in its sweep against Boston College this weekend with two goals and one assist. She scored the game-winning goal on Saturday (Nov. 28) with 6:41 remaining in the third period. Both of DeBlois' weekend goals were scored on the power play. She now has posted three goals and two assists this season. This marks the sophomore's first-career Player of the Week honor.

Abstreiter was also recognized for her efforts between the pipes. She posted a combined 66 saves over the weekend. In total, Abstreiter stopped 66 out of the 70 shots she faced for a 2.00 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage. This is Abstreiter's second-consecutive week being recognized as Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week.

The Friars are back in action this weekend with a home-and-home series versus Holy Cross. Providence hosts the Crusaders on Friday, Dec. 4 (6:00 p.m.) and travels to Worcester, Mass. on Saturday, Dec. 5 (3:00 p.m.).
