Team will open play on Wednesday, July 31 at 11:30 a.m.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College senior Alpha Diallo (New York, N.Y.), sophomore David Duke (Providence, R.I.), sophomore A.J. Reeves (Roxbury, Mass.), junior Nate Watson (Portsmouth, Va.) and Head Coach Ed Cooley will be part of the 12-player squad representing the USA at the Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru from July 31 to August 4. Friar graduate student Luwane Pipkins (Chicago, Ill.) was unable to attend due to a leg injury.
Team USA trained at Providence College from July 20-26. The team then travelled to New Jersey before departing for Peru on July 27. Team USA will open play on Wednesday, July 31 versus the Virgin Islands at 11:30 a.m. ET on ESPN 3. The squad's second game will take place on Thursday, August 1 against Venezuela at 10:00 p.m. ET on ESPN 3. USA's final game in pool play versus Puerto Rico will take place on Friday, August 2 at 10:00 p.m. ET on ESPNU. The semifinals and finals will be played on August 3-4.
The BIG EAST Conference is representing USA Basketball at the Pan American Games. The Pan American Games is a multi-sport event featuring teams from North, South and Central America and the Caribbean, which is organized by the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) and played every four years in the year preceding the Olympics (2019, 2023, etc.).
