CAYCE, S.C. - The Providence College women's tennis team's season ended at the BIG East Championships on Friday (April 18) as the Friars fell to Creighton, 4-0. Providence finishes the season at 5-18 in dual match play.
"This was Risa Takenaka's last match as a Friar and even though we didn't get the result we wanted today, over the years she has made a great impact on the tennis team," said Head Coach Jakob Klaeson. "Playing in number one singles spot since sophomore year, she has not missed a beat and has taken advantage of every opportunity given to her. She has made great sacrifices to improve her game and improve our tennis program."
The Bluejays claimed the doubles point with 6-0 and 6-1 wins in the first two matches respectively. Creighton sealed the match with victories out of the No. 1, 3 and 6 singles slots to advance to the quarterfinal round.
