Richard Gomes Earns AVCA Diversity Award

Gomes is one of 14 chosen for the AVCA Diversity Award.
LEXINGTON, Ky.-Â The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) recently announced 14 recipients of the 2019 Diversity Award. The AVCA Diversity Development Team developed this award to continue the AVCA's vision for creating opportunities and advancing the volleyball coaching profession. Providence College volleyball assistant coach Richard Gomes was named one of the recipients of this honor. Gomes now receives the opportunity to attend the AVCA Convention in Pittsburgh, Pa. on December 18-21.

"I feel extremely excited and grateful to have been selected by the AVCA Diversity Development Team to receive this award." Assistant Coach Gomes said. "It is really motivating as a minority coach to get recognition in a sport that continues to change my life and allows me to continuously give back to it."
