Jennifer Leitman Named To All-BIG EAST Freshman Team

Leitman is the first Friar freshman to be named to the team since 1998.
NEW YORK, N.Y.- The BIG EAST announced its annual volleyball awards today (Nov. 27). Jennifer Leitman (Irvine, Calif.) earned All-BIG EAST Freshman Team honors. She is the first Friar to be named to the league's All-Freshman Team since 1998.
Leitman ranked 10th in points per set (3.33), 11th in kills per set (2.78) and 11th in service aces per set (0.31) in the BIG EAST. Leitman appeared in 86 sets over 24 matches and registered 239 kills, 31 service aces and 286.5 points. The California native recorded a season-high 21 kills and 23 points against East Carolina on Nov. 1 in her first game in a Friar uniform. Leitman tied for the most service aces in one match in the BIG EAST, tallying seven against Seton Hall on Oct. 4.
All-BIG EAST Teams and major awards are voted on by the league's head coaches, who are not permitted to vote for their own players. The All-BIG EAST Team is comprised of 18 players, regardless of position. The BIG EAST All-Freshman Team recognizes the top-six freshman vote earners.
