PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The 2019-20 Providence College Late Night Madness celebration was open to students as well as alumni and family for the first time as the event was moved downtown to the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The night was packed with dance and cheer performances followed by introductions of the men's and women's basketball teams. The Dunk was then illuminated by performances by A Boogie and John Legend.
As the doors opened at 6:30 p.m. fans poured into The Dunkin' Donuts center. More than 8,500 students, alumni, and family packed the Dunk to see the Friars dance and cheer performers, as well as men's and women's basketball teams hit the court. The Friar Family cheered along with the cheerleaders and the dance team as they performed. Following student dance performances, the women's basketball team along with Head CoachÂ
Jim Crowley were brought into the lights. After introducing the women's squad, the men's basketball team danced onto the floor. Coach
Ed Cooley followed his team as he came out of the student section onto the court to address the Friar Family.
As the nightly festivities continued, A Boogie let the bass drop at 10:00 p.m. His music took over the Dunk as students rushed to the floor. Following an exhilarating performance, John Legend took the stage in a legendary performance for the Friar Faithful.
The men's basketball team will open its season on Saturday, October 19 at 3:00 p.m. in an exhibition game versus Stonehill at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Fans can purchase tickets online at friars.com or by calling the Providence College Ticket Office at 401-865-GOPC.
