Providence College Appoints Nick Sailor As Director Of Training And Education For Diversity, Equity And Inclusion

PROVIDENCE, R.I.-Â Providence College announced today [Oct. 21] it has hired Nick Sailor '17 as the Director of Training and Education for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

The newly created position is the result of a collaboration between the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Athletics Department. Sailor's mission is to strengthen and build upon the College's efforts to cultivate policies, practices and structures that ensure an inclusive, equitable and hospitable environment for students, student-athletes, staff, trainers and coaches. Sailor will oversee ongoing training, workshops and departmental counsel that enhances education and knowledge for all members of the department and the campus community.

Sailor comes to Providence after spending the past two years as a middle school special education math teacher in Baltimore City Public Schools and Next Generations Scholar Teacher at YMCA of Central Maryland. Sailor co-founded Black Chalk Corps Council, a start-up council of Black educators within the Teach for America (TFA) Baltimore corps that strives to strengthen the community and culture between Black educators in Baltimore City and in the TFA Baltimore community at-large. Sailor graduated from Providence College in 2017 with a Bachelors of Arts in sociology and women's studies and minor in black studies. Sailor was a member of the men's soccer team and president of the student-athlete advisory committee (SAAC).
