Providence College And The National Grid Foundation Kick Off Hoops For The Stars

The Friars' men's and women's basketball teams joined the National Grid Foundation on Jan. 8 at RFK Elementary School.
On Tuesday January 8 student-athletes from the Providence College men's and women's basketball teams joined the National Grid Foundation to kick off Hoops for the Stars at RFK Elementary School in Providence.

In its 11th season, the National Grid Foundation Hoops for the Stars program provides inner city schools with tickets to Friar basketball games that students can earn as a reward for hard work in the classroom and in the community. Hoops for the Stars has become ingrained in the Providence school system and teachers have been able to count on Providence College and the National Grid Foundation to provide the tickets as incentives for their students who demonstrate excellence. This year more than 5,500 tickets will be awarded.

The Hoops for the Stars Program will culminate in the spring with a city wide essay contest and another visit to a Providence school by the PC men's and women's basketball teams.
