FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Providence College women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to the Fairfield Stags in dual match play on Wednesday afternoon in Fairfield, Conn. The Friars drop to 1-1 overall in dual matches this fall season.
The Stags swept doubles play to earn the point to start off the match.
Risa Takenaka earned the Friars' lone point of the day out of the No. 1 singles spot, defeating Diana Prinos, 7-5, 4-6, 13-11. With the win, Takenaka improves to 2-0 in dual match singles play this season and 3-1 overall. Despite being tightly contested, Fairfield claimed the remaining singles matches to earn a 6-1 overall win in the match.
Up next, the Friars will participate in the University of Rhode Island Invitational from Oct. 6-7 in Kingston, R.I.
