Four Athletic Staff Members Have Title Changes

Aug. 17, 2016 PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College Athletic Director Bob Driscoll announced today (August 17) that he has made title changes for four members of the Athletic Department Staff. Effective immediately, Jill LaPoint will be the Deputy Athletic Director, Steve Napolillo will be the Senior Executive Associate Athletic Director, John Rock will be the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Arthur Parks will be the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations and Strategic Communications.

LaPoint, who was the Executive Associate Athletics Director, joined the College in 2000 as the Associate Athletics Director/SWA. In 2006, she was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Administration before becoming the Executive Associate AD in 2008. LaPoint serves as the acting Athletic Director in Driscoll's absence and also represents Driscoll, the Athletic Department and the College at various meetings on and off campus.

Napolillo, a 1998 graduate of the College, began working at Providence in 2005 in the Alumni Relations Office. In 2007, he joined the Athletic Department as the Associate Athletic Director for the Athletic Fund. Napolillo was promoted to Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations in 2013. He oversees the fundraising, marketing and ticketing offices.Napolillo and his team have established a record for fundraising each year since 2007. In the 2016 fiscal year, he and his team helped raise more than $6.2 million in fundraising and generated a school-record of more than $3 million in ticket sales.

Rock, who is entering his 29th year at Providence, was an Associate Head Athletic Trainer for 13 years, before being promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in 2001 and then to Associate Athletic Director in 2010. Rock oversees all aspects of the sports medicine program, including eight certified athletic trainers, five team physicians and a variety of medical specialists. He also oversees the strength and conditioning program.

Parks is entering his 22nd year at Providence. He started his career at Providence as an Assistant Sports Information Director in 1995. In 2000, Parks was promoted to Director of Athletic Media Relations before being named Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations in 2003. In 2006, he was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Communications. Parks is responsible for the media relations activities within the Athletic Department and all external communications for the College's 19 varsity teams.
