Kevin Rooney Inks ATO with Albany Devils

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College senior center Kevin Rooney has signed an Amateur Tryout Agreement (ATO) with the Albany Devils of the American Hockey League (AHL). Rooney joins teammate Trevor Mingoia, who signed an ATO with the Devils on March 28.

A co-captain during the 2015-16 season, Rooney chipped in with six goals and four assists while appearing in all 38 games for the Friars. He also added a goal and two assists during the final three games of Providence's national championship run in 2015.

Dating back to 2013-14, Rooney had appeared in 117 consecutive games and posted career highs of seven goals and eight assists as a junior in 2014-15.

Prior to Providence, the Canton, Massachusetts native played at the Berkshire School (NEPSIHA), where he posted totals of 27 goals and 31 assists in two seasons.
