PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was announced today (Dec. 7) that sophomore forward Ben Bentil (Wilmington, Del.) was named to the BIG EAST Men's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.
Bentil earned the honor after he helped the Friars post a 2-0 mark last week by averaging 22.0 points and 7.0 rebounds. Bentil posted his fifth consecutive game with 20 or more points as he had 23 points and eight rebounds in a 74-72 road win at Rhode Island. Most importantly, Bentil tipped in the winning basket as time expired in the win over URI on Dec. 6. He was 9-12 from the field and 5-5 from the free-throw line. In the Friars' other win during the week, Bentil scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds in just 21 minutes of action in an 89-66 victory over Hartford on Dec. 2. Bentil is second on the team in scoring (17.9 ppg), first in rebounding (7.1 rpg) and first in free throw shooting (81.0 percent).
The No. 15/18 Friars return to action with a game versus Boston College at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, R.I. The game will be televised on FoxSports1.
