PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The No. 23/24 Providence men's basketball team defeated Hartford, 89-66, on Wednesday, December 2 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, R.I. Junior guard Kris Dunn (New London, Conn.) registered his second career triple double as he notched 16 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Ben Bentil (Wilmington, Del.) posted his fourth consecutive 20-point effort as he finished with 21 points and six rebounds in 26 minutes of action.

The Friars battled early with the Hawks before pulling away late in the half to build a 19-point lead, 47-28 after 20 minutes. Bentil led all scorers in the first half as he had 15 points. Dunn broke former Friar Vinnie Ernst's record of 10 assists in a half when he added 11 assists in 17 minutes of action. PC shot 6-10 (60 percent) three-point territory, while Hartford was 6-17 (35 percent). George Blagojevic had eight points to pace the Hawks in the first half.

The Friars continued to push the offense in the second half and built their largest lead of 29 with 8:45 minutes left in the game. Hartford did not have any answers for the Friars athleticism as PC dominated the half.

In addition to Bentil and Dunn scoring in double figures, sophomore Jalen Lindsey (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) registered 15 points and shot 4-6 from three-point territory. Jalen Ross led Hartford with 21 points as he shot 8-11 from the field. Providence finished the game shooting 53 percent (34-64) from the field and outrebounding the Hawks, 42-26.

The Friars will return to action on Saturday, December 5 at the University of Rhode Island at 7 p.m. on ESPNU.
