PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's basketball team fell to Creighton, 65-54, on Friday, Jan.16 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. Four Friars finished the game in double figures, led by senior Chanise Baldwin (Pontiac, Mich.) who finished with 13 points.

In a back-and-forth opening half the Friars and Bluejays exchanged the lead eight times and held six ties. Baldwin downed a free throw with 16 seconds remaining to give the Friars a one point lead headed into the break (28-27). Baldwin led the Friars through the first 20 minutes with nine points on 3-for-5 shooting from the field. The Bluejays were paced by Alexis Akin-Otiko who tallied eight points.

The Friars extended their lead to as many as five points in the second half, 43-38 (14:41). Beginning at that mark Creighton went on a 23-8 run to gain a 10 point lead, 61-51 (2:35). The Friars closed the gap to seven, 61-54, but that was as close as they would get (1:36). Sydney Lamberty led the Bluejay surge with 18 second half points.

MC McGory and Alexis Akin-Otiko reached double figures with 15 and 14 points, respectively. The Bluejays used their advantage on the boards, 48-25, to help them to 21 second chance points.

Senior Alexis Harris (Detroit, Mich.), junior Evi Iiskola (Espoo, Finland) and freshman Allegra Botteghi (Bologna, Italy) joined Baldwin in double figures with 10 points apiece.

The Friars return to action with back-to-back road games vs. Marquette and DePaul. Providence will face the Golden Eagles on Friday, Jan. 23 in Milwaukee, Wis. at 8:00 p.m. The Friars will travel directly to Chicago, Ill. to face the Blue Demons on Sunday, Jan. 25 at 3:00 p.m. (ET).
