Oct. 21, 2014 PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Members of the Providence College women's tennis team competed at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships on Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 18. Junior
Alana Prinos and the doubles team of sophomores Jenn DeLuca and
Amanda Pitocco represented the team.
In the first round of doubles play, Pitocco and DeLuca were defeated by Columbia University's highly seeded doubles team of Rima Asatrian and Kanika Vaidya by a score of 8-0. Pitocco and DeLuca finished the fall season with a 4-4 mark overall in doubles matches.
In singles play, Prinos competed well against Courtney Amos of Yale University but fell by a score of 6-4, 6-3. Prinos' powerful serve and strong groundstrokes kept her in the match, but Amos was able to hold on for the straight-sets victory.
The ITA Women's Northeast Regional Competition marked the conclusion of the fall season for the Friar's tennis team. They will return to the courts in January to begin preparations for the Spring tennis season.
GO FRIARS!
