BIG EAST Announces 2011-12 BIG EAST All-Academic Team

On July 27, 2012 the BIG EAST announced its annual BIG EAST All-Academic Team. Of the 3,370 student-athletes named from 16 BIG EAST institutions, 166 athletes from Providence College were featured.
To be eligible for the honor, a student must have competed in a BIG EAST-sponsored sport while attaining a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 or higher for the preceding academic year. They also must have completed a minimum of either two-consecutive semesters of three-consecutive quarters of academic work with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.
There was an increase of 134 student-athlete honorees this year from the 3,236 honorees for the 2010-11 academic year. Providence also increased its number of honorees by 22 from 145. The women's swimming and diving team lead the way with 35 honors, followed by the cross country and track and field team (30) and men's lacrosse (20).
