Narragansett, RI. --On September 8th at Roger Wheeler State Beach in Narragansett, RI, the Providence College swimming and diving teams will again join hundreds of swimmers in the 3rd annual Swim Across America- Rhode Island Open Water Swim to help raise money to fight cancer.

Money raised by the swim will help the fund the cutting edge research being done at Providence's own Women's and Infants Hospital. Swim Across America hosts events across the country to help raise money to fight cancer in some of the most prestigious facilities in the world, including Dana Farber in Boston and Sloan Kettering in New York.

In our lifetime, one out of every two men and one in three women will be diagnosed with cancer. The Friars joined with the SAA community to help bring changes to these statistics. The Friars aim to top last year's total of just over $10,000. To donate, click on the link below. The money raised will go directly towards cancer research, prevention and treatment and will help make an impact in the fight to find a cure.
