Women's Tennis Defeats University of Puerto Rico Rio Piedras

SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO - The Providence College women's tennis team defeated the University of Puerto Rico Rio Piedras on March 17 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Friars swept all six of their singles matches.
Junior Marisela Aviles-Duron (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) defeated Angie Trock, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Maria Clara Bernardez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) claimed a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Angelica Perez. At No. 3 singles, Karen Ramirez (San Juan, Puerto Rico) returned home to defeat Veronica Velez, 6-0, 6-0.
Taylor Corder (Corinth, Miss.) bested Mariana Munoz, 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 4 spot. Taylor Ahlborn (Minneapolis, Minn.) defeated Claudia Segarra, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 5. Caitlin Foley (Holden, Mass.) finished off the winning streak with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Carla Avila at No. 6.
