The Providence College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is collecting donations for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island for the second consecutive year. Their fundraising efforts began on Friday, February 10, at the men’s ice hockey game versus Maine. Fundraising will continue through Saturday, February 25. Donations will be collected at the following events:
Friday, February 17: Women’s Ice Hockey vs. Northeastern at 7:00 p.m. at Schneider Arena
Saturday, February 18: Men’s Basketball vs. Georgetown at 7:00 p.m. at the Dunkin Donuts Center
Saturday, February 25: Women’s Basketball vs. Rutgers at 2:00 p.m. at Alumni Hall
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island was founded in 1987. The Foundation provides wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich their lives with hope, strength and joy. Wishes are an exciting and positive escape for the whole family during times that are often overwhelmed with worry and uncertainty. Since the first wish that was granted, the organization has become a worldwide phenomenon, reaching more than 250,000 children globally. Locally, over 1,100 wishes have been granted to Rhode Island children. Wishes typically fall into four categories: I wish to go, I wish to meet, I wish to have and I wish to be. The efforts of SAAC and the Providence College community will help share the power of a wish with a local child.
