BIG EAST Announces 2010-11 Academic All-Stars

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
The BIG EAST Conference released its annual BIG EAST Academic All-Star selections, featuring 145 Providence College student-athletes. The athletes named a BIG EAST Academic All-Star had to obtain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 during the preceding academic year (2010-11). A total of 3,236 student-athletes from the BIG EAST Conference were named, 66 more than in the 2009-10 season.
The Providence women's cross country and track teams combined for 24 honorees to lead the way. The Friar lacrosse team had 21 student-athletes, while the men's swimming and diving team had 15 and the women's swimming and diving team had 14. Five other varsity athletic teams had 10-or-more eligible student-athletes earn recognition.
