Friar Fans,
You may have noticed something different on Sabin Street as you walk into the Dunkin’ Donuts Center to attend a Friar men’s basketball game. The Dunkin’ Donuts Center pylon was recently renovated with a state-of-the-art marquee display. The 9’ x 16’, LED display was installed by Daktronics, Inc.—the same company that installed the drop-down and sideline video displays— and can display graphics and animations. The marquee is a nice addition to The Dunk, as it will advertise upcoming Friar men’s basketball games and various events held at the arena.
In other news, the athletic department’s graduate assistants and I met on January 28 to discuss the state of the department, leadership and career paths. The meetings I have with the graduate assistants are invaluable, as they provide me with new ideas and give me an opportunity to help them work through any difficulties that may arise.
Finally, our next basketball vision team meeting will take place Wednesday, February 23 prior to the men’s basketball game against Notre Dame. Jim Dietzer, an architect with SMMA will be in attendance to help us design the renovation of Alumni Gymnasium, which we plan on starting in March of 2012.
Go Friars!
