Friar Fans,
It was another exciting day in Friartown last Thursday, as we unveiled our new team bus outside the Concannon Fitness Center. The outside of the bus has been branded with our Providence College athletic logos and a silhouette of our capitol city’s skyline. In addition, it features television screens, a restroom and Wi-Fi. The bus will serve our sports teams’ travel needs throughout the year.
One of the athletic department’s main objectives is to be the most respected program in the nation. With that in mind, it is paramount to represent ourselves in a way that coincides with the way we conduct ourselves. The 58-passenger vehicle, provided by our friends at Academy Bus, will serve to grow the Providence College brand and lead us in the right direction.
In a related topic, branding the College as a whole has become an important action item that my fellow vice presidents, Fr. Shanley, the deans and I would like to tackle. To do so, we are planning an integrated marketing strategy discussion for tomorrow in Slavin Center. The meeting will cover a plethora of pertinent topics, but will focus on a review of the College’s current strategic marketing plan and elements that will allow us to work cohesively, with the same goals in mind. This meeting is just one part of an important process that will effectively brand the school even more successfully than it is today.
Finally, I am happy to announce that Ray Flynn ’63 and the late Vinny Ernst ‘63 will have their respective jerseys retired at halftime of the men’s basketball game against Cincinnati on Saturday. These two Friar Legends led the men’s basketball team to two NIT Championships (1961 & 1963). It is with great pride that we honor these two for all their accomplishments on the court and in the classroom.
Go Friars!
